Seville

Our next stop: Spain! We decided to visit the Southern part of the country, where neither of us had ever been before. We spent the first weekend in the beautiful city of Seville. With almost 700,000 inhabitants, Seville is the fourth largest city in Spain and the capital of the Andalusia region. Due to its location in the south of Spain, in Seville it is almost always sunny and very hot in the summer (June – August)!

While staying a weekend in Seville, Christoph and I experienced 40 degrees Celsius for the first time ever in Europe. But since we would be traveling to the next city a few days later and had little time in Seville, we wanted to use the time we had and were out and about in the city all day despite the heat.

A few hours after our arrival in Seville it became clear to us that it would not be our last visit to this city. The beautiful architecture of the old town, the huge cathedral and the many small cafes and bars everywhere convinced me that Seville must be the most beautiful city in all of Spain! No matter where you go to in the city center, almost every house and every corner looked stunning. My sketch here shows one of the city’s many colorful houses.

The more days you can spend in Seville, the better. However, if you only have a few hours, it’s nice to stroll through the streets with a coffee in your hand. If you are in the city for a few days, you should definitely plan a visit to the “Real Alcázar de Sevilla”. Visiting the city’s medieval royal palace is a unique experience which should not be missed!
