Pergamino Café

Colombia is known for its amazing coffee and a lot of the coffee we buy in Europe is actually grown in Colombia. In no other country we visited have we had such high quality and delicious coffee as in Colombia! While there are of course countless coffee places in Medellín, we found our absolute favorite café in our district “Laureles”. The beautiful café is called “Pergamino” and is somewhat hidden between normal houses in one of the residential areas of Medellín.

Apart from the large, white letters with the name of the place, the facade of the “Pergamino” café is very inconspicuous. If you enter the café and cross the mirrored, Art Nouveau-style hallway, you will reach the large counter where you can place your order. If you then walk past the counter on the left, you will find yourself in the bright, open-air courtyard and garden of the café. Here, between the most amazing tropical plants and a bubbling fountain, there are the cozy tables and chairs of the café. This courtyard was definitely our favorite place in the city during our time in Medellín. Pergamino not only offers very good coffee and all kinds of coffee preparation methods to choose from, but also delicious breakfast and lunch. So this place is not just for coffee nerds, but for everyone who loves to have a relaxed brunch! What is also special about Pergamino Café is that they source their coffee beans from small, independent coffee farmers in Colombia, thereby supporting small family businesses and paying them fairly.

Although we found the Pergamino Café in the Laureles district to be the nicest and coziest, there are now 6 Pergamino cafes in different neighborhoods in Medellín. To our surprise, there even was a Pergamino at the city's airport, where we were able to say goodbye to our favorite café Pergamino and the great Colombian coffee as we left Colombia a few weeks later.
